is a 60cm deep desk enough for a 32-inch monitor?

Question

upgrading from 27 inches to the LG 32UN880 (32 inch 4K). my desk is only 60 cm deep and i'm worried about viewing distance. OSHA says 50-76 cm eye-to-screen for desktop monitors, but at 60 cm depth the screen would sit maybe 50 cm from my eyes. is that too close for a 32?

The 32UN880 has a built-in Ergo C-clamp arm. It clamps to the rear edge and pushes the screen to the very back of the desk, giving you 65-70 cm of viewing distance on a 60 cm desk. Checked it in the desk setup planner and confirmed. One of the few 32-inch monitors that works on shallow desks without a separate arm.

I have a 32 inch on a 60 cm desk. Fine WITH an arm that pushes it back. Without it, the stock stand puts the screen at about 48 cm from your face and it's way too close, you end up moving your head to read corners. Arm is basically mandatory at this size and depth.

60cm might be pushing it with a 32 inch, honestly. I've got an MSI G321CQP which is roughly that size, and i wouldn't want it any closer than it is on my current desk.

You could always try it and see, but be prepared to maybe wall mount it or get a deeper desk if it gives you eye strain. Viewing angles are great on that LG, so that's a plus, but still... might be too close for comfort. Maybe consider an ultrawide like my Acer Predator X34? More screen real estate without being *too* tall.
