came off a 31.5 inch flat VA i always told myself was wide enough. it wasn't, and i didn't really understand that until the 45 was on the desk and i'd rebuilt the whole setup around it. the 800R is the part everyone wants to argue about, and in a store it does look ridiculous. at 45 inches sat at a normal distance it stops being a gimmick though. the edges bend toward you instead of trailing off past your peripheral vision, and for sim and racing you end up sitting inside the thing. every review going on about the detail and the HDR is telling the truth, it earns the money even at the 1355 i paid rather than the 1999 sticker. one honest asterisk for the text crowd. it's 125 ppi stretched across a very wide 5K2K panel, so fine text isn't dead sharp. for games and media i never notice. if your whole day is spreadsheets, think harder about it. for everything else it's the most fun i've had at a desk in ages
